Tunnelling of 4 000 m of the tunnel – first talc strike
On 10.4.2009 4000 m of the opening tunnel was punched in the newly opened talc deposit Gemerská Poloma and its completion on the entire length of 4200 meters is expected in the next month. This main opening work will serve as a transport and communication link of the surface with one of the most important deposits of talc in Europe.
Immediately after completion of the opening tunnel tunnelling, detailed underground exploration of the bearing is continuously projected as a combination of drilling and mining works in which will be the extracted materials used for technological tests as well as for commercial sales. The results of this survey will serve for further optimization of the realization of the next mining works and mining process, which should in the future be up to 100 000 tons of the material annually.
