The Way of Opening – Drifting of Gallery
The entry section of the mine, approximately 300 m long, was drifted by the traditional mining technology using the drilling-explosive disintegration of rocks and the wheel technique.
As for the second stage of drifting works of the mine, the state-of-the-art track mechanisms have been employed. They consist of two-carriage drilling vehicle of the Atlas Copco Company, the loader of Häggloader brand, the Shuttletrain-brand vehicles and DHD 20 and DHD 15 locomotives of the GIA Industri AB Company from Sweden. The mechanisms employed are completely new and they have not been used in Slovakia in such complex range yet. The tunnel drifting by mechanisms mentioned was officially initiated on 19 July by ceremonial blessing of the Elisabeth gallery, the Saint Barbora gallery and the mining technique.
