Advantages and Disadvantages
- The opening work will be performed out of the risky protective zone of the water source. From that reason, the expensive water-protective equipment can be eliminated or can be cheaper. In case of wet treatment of the raw material, the flotation can be established at such opening work, near the mouthing, with sludge beds and sedimentation tanks.
- The location has good communication connection via a road or near railway station with a possibility to establish the railway siding from the Gemerská Poloma village.
- The sough will be drifted by applying climbing of 3‰. The mining waters can freely flow out. The track transport is clearly cheaper that the transport by trucks that is being planned at the ramp. The track transport can transport of the talc material out and transport the backfilling material in. In this case, no backfilling pit would be necessary.
- Supply of power, water, etc. to the mine is not carried through the service pit anymore, but through the sough. The pit as the work of opening has only the function of the ventilation pit and the second emergency exit.
- The sough will undermine the deposit and end up in granite. In this solid and bearing rocks, the underground surveys can be carried out at need. The backfill crusher, the compressor station, the optical sorter, etc. can be placed in here.
- The big disadvantage is in the fact that in case of the ‘down from top’ mining method, the big difference in altitude must be interconnected between the sough and the top drawn position. The high expenses for drifting approximately 4,200 m long gallery and the long period of work execution also represent a big disadvantage.
